J. Christopher Hamilton, assistant professor of television, radio and film in the Newhouse School, was quoted by the Cortland Standard for the article “Work for what I want.” Hamilton, who researches race and business monetization, says it can be very difficult for Black and minority business owners when first starting a new venture, especially in predominantly white communities where “social connections can have a large influence on business.” “If you’re not interconnected with those people, you’re going to have a harder time running a business,” says Hamilton.
