Jeremy Losak, assistant professor in Falk College, was quoted by NBC Sports for the coverage “A one in a million shot never before seen in NASCAR.” Over the summer, NASCAR driver Martin Truez Jr. won five consecutive third-place finishes. Losak, who teaches a sports analytics class, says “the odds of Truex scoring back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back third-place finishes were 1 million to one,” which nearly equals the probability of being struck by lightning.
