What are FOIA Lawsuits and Who’s Filing Them?

Roy Gutterman, associate professor of newspaper and online journalism at the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, authored an op-ed for the Columbia Journal Review titled “A battered FOIA collides with the $2 trillion bailout.” In the article, Gutterman discusses the increase in the filing of FOIA lawsuits by large media outlets and their ability to undermine the power and influence of local media.
