Starting this week, Syracuse University Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation J. Michael Haynie will host “SU Safe Weekly Roundup,” a series of weekly virtual update sessions to assist University community members in preparing for the Fall 2020 semester….
CPR Trainings Offered to the Campus Community
Syracuse University Ambulance and Fire Safety are partnering to offer CPR training for students, faculty and staff. The next available class will be on Monday, Sept. 16, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Class will take place in 020 Lyman Hall.
These trainings offer the American Heart Association Heart Saver class, which will review adult, child and infant CPR, including automated external defibrillator (AED) usage. Members of the campus community that complete the training will be CPR certified at that level.
“In this class, you will review and gain the knowledge of the five links of the American Heart Association chain of survival. With this knowledge, you will be ready to recognize and assist in the event of a cardiac emergency either on or off campus,” says Paul Smyth, manager of emergency medical services in Health Services.
The course costs $50 per person, which includes the certification and a pocket mask. Attendees can pay by check or Syracuse University interdepartmental order. Please bring a form of payment to the class.
To register, interested participants may contact Smyth at email@example.com. Class sizes are limited to 10 people per session. If a group or department would like to arrange a private class, contact Smyth.
