Statement from Senior Vice President for Enrollment and the Student Experience Dolan Evanovich Reaffirming University’s Commitment to International Community

Throughout its history, Syracuse University has maintained a steadfast commitment to engaging and fostering a global campus community of students, scholars, faculty and staff. With deeply held values of inclusion and opportunity, the contributions of our international community are celebrated across our campus, in our research and scholarship, and within our centers across the world.

Over the past few weeks, reports of the Chinese government’s warnings regarding studying in the United States have led to some international students expressing concern about being able to pursue a Syracuse University education. I want to reassure our campus community that Syracuse University remains committed to our international students and scholars. We will continue to welcome and support students from all over the world.

At this time, we are not aware of any impact on the issuance of visas for new and returning students. Our staff in the Slutzker Center for International Services continues to monitor issues related to immigration and arrival procedures. International students and scholars with questions about visa issuance, appointments or immigration status may contact Slutzker Center Associate Director Mary Idzior at midzior@syr.edu or 315.443.2457 or Associate General Counsel Jennifer Gavilondo at jgavilon@syr.edu or 315.443.9732.
