Syracuse University Facilities Services will be working with project contractors to make two emergency repairs on campus utility systems on Saturday, March 30, and Sunday, March 31.
On Saturday and Sunday, a failed chilled water valve is being replaced in the grass area immediately southeast of the Place of Remembrance. This work will begin 7 a.m. Saturday and will be completed by 5 p.m. Sunday. The crews will access this area from the Q2 parking lot. Pedestrian access will be limited at times on the sidewalk heading north to the project site but adjacent sidewalks may be used. This work will not impact any building utility services (heating, water, power, etc).
On Saturday, repairs are being made to a failed condensate return pipe located between Link Hall and Shaffer Hall. The work will be completed between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The crews will be working inside two underground steam vaults in this area and will access the site from College Place. Pedestrian access through the area will be maintained with only small areas coned off for work. This work will also not impact any building utility services.
Please use caution in these areas. Delays in the proposed work may occur as a result of unforeseen circumstances and/or for safety reasons.
