The Office of Campus Planning, Design and Construction is working with the project contractor to complete asphalt paving in the Q1 parking lot this week, dependent on the weather. This work will affect access to Q1.
On Wednesday (Aug. 15), the paving contractor is placing asphalt in the stone area that is at the west end of Q1 North, by the Falk College complex and Holden Observatory. Traffic will be maintained through this area by flaggers.
On Thursday morning, a milling machine will be onsite to remove the top inch of asphalt on the entire west half of Q1 North and the roadway between the Heroy Geology Laboratory and Falk College. This is to prepare for the placement of final top asphalt in the area. Traffic will generally be maintained through the area, but there will be short disruptions to flow.
On Friday, there will be no access to the west half of Q1 North or the entire Q1 South to allow for top asphalt paving. Striping will be completed over the weekend, after which the lot will resume normal use.
Delays in the proposed work may occur as a result of poor weather, unforeseen circumstances and/or safety reasons. In the event of a significant delay, updated information will be provided by the Office of Campus Planning, Design and Construction.
