With the high forecasted temperatures, campus buildings will be scheduled to maintain occupied set-points 24/7 through Thursday, July 5. Typically, systems are shut down overnight and on the weekend to conserve energy but will remain on continually to allow indoor temperatures to stay moderated for students, faculty and staff.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s through the weekend and into next week, with a heat advisory through Sunday followed by an excessive heat warning through Monday from the National Weather Service.
The determination to keep building systems running is part of a standard protocol used by Energy Systems and Sustainability Management when extreme weather is forecasted over a period of multiple days during the summer or winter.
Staff members with Campus Facilities will continue to monitor the forecast and make adjustments as needed.
