Students: Join a Council that Impacts your Student Experience

Student Advisory CouncilStudent Experience

The Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience is opening applications now for the Student Advisory Council (SAC). The Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience seeks applicants who are passionate about effecting change and advising staff and administrators about the student experience.

Therefore, the SAC encourages undergraduate, graduate and law students to apply. Interested students should complete the online application by Sunday, June 3, at 11:59 p.m. The application will reopen in the fall.

The volunteer council provides insight, advice and recommendations on issues related to student life. The council meets with key University leadership to provide input on the student experience. Topics that have been discussed in prior years include, but are not limited to, the Campus Framework Plan, campus safety, diversity and inclusion, dining services and Invest Syracuse. Rob Hradsky, senior associate vice president of the student experience and dean of students, will chair the council.

The SAC includes approximately 25 undergraduate, graduate and law students of all years and majors. Students are not required to have prior knowledge of the Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience, but it is recommended they have an interest in student life areas.

“Serving on the SAC is a chance for all of us as students to give input to administrators who are directly involved in polices that help determine the student experience at SU,” says Nick Vitalone, a student in the College of Arts and Sciences and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. “Many students on this campus have ideas on things that could be changed to make our experiences here better, and this council gives those students the opportunity to do so.”

Students interested in applying for the Student Advisory Council must be available Fridays from noon-1:30 p.m. Meetings traditionally occur every other week.

Interested undergraduate, graduate and law students should complete the online application by Sunday, June 3, at 11:59 p.m.
