The Barnes family’s latest gift will support the creation of The Barnes Center at The Arch. As a result, the Archbold/Flanagan Gymnasium will be transformed into a holistic health, wellness and recreation complex.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to an update on the Archbold Gymnasium transformation on Thursday, April 26, from 4-5 p.m. in the Milton Room, fourth floor of the Whitman School of Management. The session will include a brief update on the construction efforts and details on health, wellness and recreation features within the building.

A key component of the University’s Campus Framework, the Archbold Gymnasium, which includes the Barnes Center at The Arch, will transform into a state-of-the-art health, wellness and recreation complex. The complex will house all the campus health and wellness services, including the Counseling Center, Office of Health Promotion, Health Services, Recreation Services and Student Assistance. The fully accessible facility will provide students, with access to convenient, coordinated health and wellness services that support students’ academic, social and emotional well-being.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) will be provided.  Additional accommodation requests can be sent to studentexperience@syr.edu by April 20.
