Trump’s Influence on the Democratic Party
Much has changed since President Trump was elected, including the political parties themselves. In a recent PBS Frontline article, Danielle Thomsen, an associate professor of political science at the Maxwell School, explained the POTUS’ influence on the Democratic Party, and what has changed since inauguration.
“There are two types of Democrats that we’ve seen emerge in the wake of Trump,” she said. “The bulk of those are coming from the liberal Democratic end, but there are pockets of more conservative-leaning Democrats that have the potential to anchor the party at the center and shape the party’s ideological course in the years to come.”
