Syracuse University Monitoring Winter Weather and Travel Conditions for Wednesday, February 7

Wednesday, February 7, 2018, By News Staff
Share

Syracuse University is currently monitoring and assessing weather conditions for Wednesday, February 7. In particular, University leaders and public safety officials are evaluating anticipated travel conditions to and from campus. This effort includes reviewing the most up-to-date National Weather Service data and forecasting, and consulting with the an independent meteorologist about what to expect, especially as it relates to the morning and afternoon commutes.

After reviewing current conditions, the University expects to remain open and operational on Wednesday, February 7.

Campus employees are expected to report to campus per their usual schedules. However, and as always, campus community members should be aware and take precautions when severe weather is in the area. If community members experience weather conditions that could affect their safety when traveling to and from the University, they are encouraged to use their judgement as it relates to their travel. Faculty and staff concerned about their safety should contact their department head or supervisor, respectively.

The University will continue to evaluate weather and road conditions through the afternoon and evening hours. If a change in the University’s operating status becomes necessary, it will be announced:

• via the University’s Orange Alert system;

• on the University’s campus Twitter account @SUCampus;

• on news.syr.edu and syracuse.edu; and

• via the Syracuse University radio station WAER-FM88, as well as other local media outlets.

Only Syracuse University’s Office of News Services is authorized to transmit to the news media announcements about the University’s operating status. To learn more about winter weather preparedness, please click here [http://health.syr.edu/wellness/winter-health.html].
