The Trend of Super Bowl Advertisements

While Super Bowl ads are known for their humor, they also play to the tune of the country, which, this year, is a polarized nation. In a USA Today article that elaborates on what ads will be seen this year, Newhouse Advertising professor Rebecca Ortiz explains that these ads will also take a step away from sexualizing women.

“‘Sex sells,’ the phrase that we anecdotally rely on,” she says, “really isn’t true in the way that many in the public have thought.” Ortiz elaborated further, saying that this trend has been on the decline in the past few years.
