While tailgating outside of your favorite team’s NFL stadium is a longstanding tradition for many, owners of teams are now attempting to move fans inside. This change comes for one simple reason: to capitalize on further revenue. For the Boston Globe, Sports Management professor Rodney Paul commented on just exactly what owners are trying to do.
“They’d like to be able to capture that revenue, instead of having all that pregame spending on food and drink take place outside the stadium,” he said. “Every incremental revenue source, however small it might seem for a billionaire owner, can still be worthwhile.”
