Pop Culture Expert Says Oprah 2020 Hype Not As Big As First Indicated

Immediately following her speech at this year’s Golden Globes, the Oprah 2020 movement took off. However, are voters really that serious with the media mogul’s run for the White House? In the Morning Consult, Newhouse Professor and Director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture Robert Thompson said the hype may not be as big as it seems.

“If you were watching cable news the Monday after the Golden Globes, you would have thought the numbers would say 99 percent of Americans want her to run,” he said. “Certainly polls have their limitations, but these numbers don’t quite indicate that degree of enthusiasm.”
