Expert Monnat Details Good and Bad of CVS Purchase

After CVS purchased health insurance agency Aetna, the pharmacy chain now looks to provide in-store patient care. To help understand the pros and cons to this, CBS News interviewed Maxwell Associate Professor and Lerner Chair of Public Health Promotion Shannon Monnat.

While instant access to healthcare for smaller injuries and ailments, Monnat says, there is a potential downside. “We have to be careful that the clinics being proposed don’t just become low-quality health care dumping grounds for poor and vulnerable patients,” she said. “Quality of care should be a top concern.”
