rubyslippersball400x300Syracuse Stage invites families to ring in 2018 at its first-ever New Year’s Eve party, the Ruby Slippers Ball. Immediately following the 7 p.m. performance of “The Wizard of Oz,” join the cast for a New Year’s celebration with food, dessert, dancing, a children’s costume parade and more. There will be a special countdown to the New Year on “Oz Time” at 11 p.m. Tickets for the New Year’s party cost $30 for adults and $20 for children and are available at www.SyracuseStage.org, by phone at 315.443.3275 and in person at the box office.

Included with all Ruby Slippers New Year’s Ball tickets are:

  • A buffet by Phoebe’s Restaurant:
    • Mixed greens with house vinaigrette, tomatoes and cucumbers
    • Chicken tenders with BBQ, ranch and honey mustard dipping sauces
    • Macaroni and cheese
    • Chicken and broccoli alfredo
    • Slider sandwiches: turkey and provolone with mustard, ham and cheddar with mayonnaise and peanut butter and jelly
  • Gannon’s Ice Cream
  • Juice, hot cocoa, soda and water (cash bar available)
  • Music by DJ Cyrubiss

When purchasing tickets for the Ruby Slippers New Year’s Ball, families will also receive a code for a discounted room rate at The Genesee Grande Hotel. Room reservations must be made by Dec. 15 to receive discounted rate.

Syracuse Stage and the Department of Drama team up with New York City-based 2 Ring Circus to put an acrobatic spin on the beloved family favorite “The Wizard of Oz.” Based on the original novel by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 MGM Motion Picture, this stage adaptation contains the familiar characters and popular songs such as “Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard (Follow the Yellow Brick Road).” The production runs Nov. 29, 2017 through Jan. 7, 2018, in the Archbold Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St.

Tickets to the Dec. 31 performance of “The Wizard of Oz” must be purchased separately. Tickets are available at www.SyracuseStage.org, by phone at 315.443.3275 and in person at the Box Office.
