A court case is pending on the topic, but many strongly believe that businesses must provide accessible websites for the visually impaired. This includes Arlene Kanter, a Professor of Law and the Director of the College of Law Disability Law and Policy Program, who spoke with Bloomberg BNA on the topic.
“(The law) is pretty clear that a website is required to be accessible, especially when it’s connected to a store,” she said. “Businesses should think about not spending money to fight cases like this and instead think about spending it to make their businesses more accessible to new potential customers, which would be in their interest.”
