Tiffany Steinwert, Samuel Clemence to be Honored at Hendricks Chapel Nov. 6
A former Hendricks Chapel dean and interim dean will be honored at a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. in the entryway of Hendricks Chapel. The University community is invited to attend.
A portrait of former dean Tiffany L. Steinwert will be unveiled and dedicated, and a plaque honoring former interim dean Samuel P. Clemence will be dedicated.
Steinwert, the sixth dean of Hendricks Chapel, served at Syracuse University from 2010-15. She now is the dean of religious and spiritual life at Wellesley College. Her portrait will join a gallery that includes the first five deans of Hendricks Chapel: William H. Powers (1930-44); Charles C. Noble (1945-67); John H. McCombe Jr. (1967-80); Richard L. Phillips (1981-98); and Thomas V. Wolfe (1999-2008).
Clemence, Meredith Professor Emeritus in the College of Engineering and Computer Science and recipient of the Chancellor’s Medal at the 2017 One University Awards ceremony, served as interim dean of the chapel from 2015-17. Hendricks interim deans James B. Wiggins (1980-81), Robert S. Pickett (1995-97) and Kelly N. Sprinkle (2008-2010) are also honored with plaques in the gallery.
The seventh dean of Hendricks Chapel, Brian E. Konkol, will be installed at a ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m. in the chapel.
