Toys-R-Us Holiday Sale Starts to Stave off Bankruptcy

Recovering after filing for bankruptcy in September, Toys-R-Us stores around the country are already prepping for holiday sales season, which will begin a month before Black Friday. Whitman Professor of Retail Practice Amanda Nicholson spoke with CNY Central about this strategy, and what Toys-R-Us is hoping to gain from it.

“The worst thing about being in a crisis, is that you’re in a crisis. The best thing about being in a crisis, is that’s when people come up with really good innovations,” she says. Toys-R-Us is also hosting parent only “Parents Night Out” events and creating Play Labs for kids to test toys.
