New Yorker Reviews David Yaffe’s New Joni Mitchell Biography

Following its recent publication, many outlets have reviewed Reckless Daughter, a biography about Joni Mitchell, written by Arts and Sciences Assistant Professor David Yaffe. One recent review came from the New Yorker, who favored the work.

“Yaffe’s book is partly a study of what happens when a great artist, emerging as part of a scene, resists that scene’s assumptions and categories,” the magazine wrote. “The sixties had set a place for Joni Mitchell, but her essence was noncompliance.”
