Central New York draws in thousands of young, bright students a year, helping stimulate the local economy. However, when these students are done with their four years, the majority leave to start careers elsewhere, leaving CNY missing out on plenty of young talent. Whitman Professor Johan Wiklund weighed in on this for CNY Central.
“Maybe their main targets should be people who were already in the area,” Wiklund said, suggesting talent be found not from grads, but from people already living within the area. “People, for example, who work at say Saab Sensis, people who work at Lockheed Martin.”
