Expert Gives Advice on First Credit Card Purchase

It’s a daunting task, but one everyone has to deal with: navigating how to sign up for your first credit card. In an article for Refinery 29, Derek Brainard, a Financial Literacy Coordinator in the Office of Financial Aid office offered advice to those weighing the decision.
“If you already have student loans or other types of consumer loans, you may already have an established credit history,” he said. “The quickest way to check is to pull your credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com.” Brainard continued to give other tips as well.
