Students are invited to join in SU’s homecoming and reunion celebration through Oct. 7. Throughout the week, the Office of Student Activities works with the Traditions Commission to host new and popular returning events for current students to celebrate their Orange pride.

Throughout the week, there are new and returning events for students to celebrate their Orange pride.

“Homecoming is my favorite time of the year because it’s so much fun for everyone, and we all are part of the same Orange family,” says Kristen Unangst, a member of the Traditions Commission and senior in the Whitman School of Management. “It makes me proud to be Orange when I see alumni come back and share in the spirit.”

Orange Central is the annual homecoming and reunion that brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University together for one weekend. The Office of Student Activities and the Traditions Commission work closely to host engaging, fun events for current students that help students form lasting connections to the University.

The 2017 schedule of student events is:

Thursday, Oct. 5

  • DanceWorks Homecoming Showcase: Featuring One World, Amaz, Raices, Orange Pulse, Outlaws, Orange Bhangra, Black Reign, Kalabash, Creations and DanceWorks, the showcase is at 8 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the Schine Box Office: $3 for students, $5 for faculty and staff, and $7 for the public.

Friday, Oct. 6

  • Dye and Donate: The new event features free tie-dye, sponsored by the Traditions Commission. Students are welcome to bring friends, have snacks and get creative at 8 p.m. in Schine Underground. Materials needed to tie-dye will be provided while supplies last.

Saturday, Oct. 7

  • University Union and Traditions Commission present a homecoming comedy show featuring T.J. Miller and the Lucas Brothers at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $5 at the Schine Box Office. The homecoming king and queen will be announced during the show.

“It’s important for us to provide a space for students to connect with students while celebrating their common connection of Orange pride,” says Sarah Ross Cappella, associate director of the Office of Student Activities. “The student-focused events during Orange Central capitalize on the one common theme that we all know to be true—our love for the Orange.”
