Several Physics Professors at Syracuse were heavily involved in research that contributed to Nobel-Prize winning work. The professors were involved with analyzing data points from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, using this to find out more on gravitational ripples stemming from the collision of black holes.
“The information encoded in those gravitational waves tells us about the universe, how stars evolve, how they live, how they die,” said professor Duncan Brown. “It’s not everyday that you get to be part of a whole new field of astronomy.”
