Student Advisory Council to Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience Call for Applications

The Student Advisory Council seeks undergraduate, graduate and law student applicants to advise the Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience. Students can apply here.

Formerly known as the Student Affairs Advisory Board, this group of students will serve in a new capacity to the newly formed Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience. As a volunteer council, these students provide insight, advice and recommendations on issues related to the student life cycle. The council will meet with key University leadership to provide student input on the student experience. Topics that have been discussed in prior years include, but are not limited to, the Campus Framework Plan, campus safety, diversity and inclusivity, and dining services.

David Edelstein, a junior broadcast and digital journalism major in the Newhouse School, has been on the Student Advisory Council since his first year on campus and has found the role to be rewarding.

“I feel that I know more about services and opportunities available on campus, that I have a group of people that I can connect with to make positive change and that I, too, am continually working toward building an even stronger community,” says Edelstein.

The Student Advisory Council will include approximately 25 undergraduate, graduate and law students of all years and majors. Students are not required to have prior knowledge of the Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience, but it is recommended they have an interest in student life areas.

“The Student Advisory Council serves as an essential student sounding board in discussing many of the initiatives happening across campus,” says Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz, interim senior associate vice president of the student experience.

Students interested in applying for the Student Advisory Council must do so by Sunday, Oct. 8, at 11:59 p.m. Meetings occur on select Fridays from noon-1:30 p.m., so applicants must be available during that time. Complete the online application here.
