As a free speech case in a Georgia school district gained national coverage, many began to wonder if free speech on college campuses was still truly free. The Washington Times reported on this issue, quoting Newhouse Professor and Director of the Tully Center for Free Speech Roy Gutterman.
“The attorney general was on point in saying there’s blowback on conservative viewpoints on college campuses,” he said. “It’s how the politics of today are playing out on college campuses. But you can go back 50 or 60 years and substitute right-wing suppression for left-wing suppression.”
