Anastasia Selby, an MFA candidate in the College of Arts and Sciences, fought wildfires for seven years in the 2000s. She knows how a fire of massive proportions can start from a singular spark from a vehicle. Being a veteran of the dangerous industry, she can see how the changing climate is altering these blazes, and not for the best.
“Climate change will continue to affect fire behavior,” she states. “According to an article published in PNAS, data from Western North America confirms that human-caused climate change will lead to widespread and more frequent fires.”
