Physics Professor Eric Schiff Takes on State Fair Games

While many play the Midways Games of the State Fair for fun and prizes, Syracuse University College of Arts and Sciences Physics Professor Eric Schiff sees them as a learning opportunity- and a way to find an easier win, he tells LocalSYR.

“If energy is perfectly constant, it’s guaranteed to come back with exactly the same speed that it passed over the hill,” he says of a bowling type challenge. “So to win the game at all you need something else that kills a little energy.”
