Vice Chancellor and Provost Michele G. Wheatly today announced the members of the search committee for the next vice president of research. The vice president of research oversees the Office of Research, supporting and leading Universitywide efforts to sustain and encourage innovation and research across all academic disciplines.

Peter Vanable, who was appointed interim vice president for research in January 2016, will continue to serve until a new vice president is selected. Vanable was named associate provost for graduate studies and dean of the Graduate School in January.

We have exceptional scholars and researchers with phenomenal ideas and areas of exploration that represent the strength and opportunity for scientific breakthroughs and exceptional learning for all of our students,” Provost Wheatly says. “The next vice president of research will lead our endeavors as a person with high academic stature in their own right, a great understanding of funding resources and a collaborative focus. I look forward to the work done by the search committee as they identify our next leader of this central critical role for our university.”
