Charles E. Morris III
Charles E. Morris III, professor and chair of the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, has published “Earshot of Lincoln,” a piece commissioned by “Forty-Five: A Journal of Outside Research” in response to David Gissen’s spatial and acoustic reconstruction of Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address.”

Morris’s research interests are in rhetorical criticism, GLBTQ rhetorics, public memory and social protest. He is recognized for his books and essays on queer historical criticism and public memory and for co-founding “QED: A Journal in GLBTQ Worldmaking.” He was named the 2016 Distinguished Scholar by the Rhetorical and Communication Theory Division of the National Communication Association (NCA) and will receive the award in November at the NCA annual convention in Philadelphia.
