Syracuse Children’s Chorus (SCC) kicks off its 36th season with the fall concert, “Tudo Bem—A Celebration of Latin American Music,” on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at 3 p.m. at H.W. Smith School, 1130 Salt Springs Rd., Syracuse.

Syracuse Children’s Chorus

The public is invited to an afternoon of Brazilian and Latin American music. In addition to a selection of choral pieces by SCC, Syracuse University faculty members Elisa Macedo Dekaney and Joshua Dekaney will join choristers in daytime workshops to prepare an exciting array of music and dance from Brazil, culminating in a combined concert with Samba Laranja, the Syracuse University Brazilian Ensemble, SCC and children from several Syracuse-area city schools.

SCC is under the direction of artistic directors Marcia DeMartini, Katherine Medicis, Sky Harris and pianist Maryna Mazhukhova. Elisa and Joshua Dekaney are founders and directors of Samba Laranja, the Syracuse University Brazilian Ensemble. Under their direction, the group performs regularly for K-12 schools across Central New York and for events in the community and on campus. Samba Laranja is a non-auditioned ensemble offered every semester through the Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University.

This project is made possible, in part, by support from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, the Senator John Defrancisco Fund for the Arts, and the Dorothy and Marshall M. Reisman Foundation.  Ticket pricing is $20 for adults, $10 for children, and $18 for seniors. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact SCC at 315.478.0582 or email bharris@syracusechildrenschorus.org.
