Student Explains Why She Loves New Dining Services App
A new smart phone app available to students, faculty and staff, which allows them to order food from Food Services simply by tapping their phone, is drawing rave reviews. The app is called Tapingo, which is free to download, and allows users to browse menus, customize orders, pay and have their items scheduled for pickup.
We asked Gabriella Dizon ’17, who has Tapingo on her phone, for her thoughts.
Q. How did you become aware of Tapingo?
A. There was a charisma to their ad online that caught my eye that drew me into finding out more.
Q. What do you like most about the app?
A. My favorite feature of the app is that it utilizes the various on-campus vendors that currently exist at SU, like Schine or food.com, for example. This makes being a student at SU 10 times easier. I can order a coffee and bagel from Eggers on my walk to campus and pick it up on my way to class!
Q. Give us an example of how you use it.
A. I’m perpetually late and definitely not a morning person, so breakfast is a meal always on the go. I was running late for my morning wait in the Dunkin’ Line at Schine before class and debated skipping breakfast all together. I remembered Tapingo had not only a delivery service but a pickup option as well! In my still half-asleep state, I navigated the app super easy and was able to place my pickup order on my way to campus. When I arrived, I skipped the line. I got the same feeling when ordering ahead from Chipotle or Starbucks—pure royalty—and happily made my way to class.
Q. What’s most important for students to know about Tapingo?
A. The most helpful piece of advice, other than download the app, of course, would be GET SUPERFOOD MONEY! Tapingo accepts SUperfood which I’m stoked about! You can choose increments on MySlice, which helps with weekly or monthly budgeting, or buy a superfood meal plan that bills to your bursar account. I eat out/on the go so much it made sense for me to invest and will help me spend less out-of-pocket money in the long run.
