Thursday Morning Roundtable Kicks Off New Season

Thursday Morning Roundtable, an award-winning public service program sponsored by University College, begins its new season with a new location, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The first session will be held Sept. 8 and will feature John DeSantis, executive director of Believe in Syracuse, who will discuss the great things happening in Syracuse.

Following sessions will be:

Sept. 15: Racial Tensions in America
Is racial tension in America higher now that it was in previous decades? SU Police Chief Bobby Maldonado, College of Law Professor Lauryn Gould and Rochelle L. Ford,  professor and chair in the Newhouse School of Public Communications, will discuss racial tensions and share their own perspectives on solutions.

Sept. 22: OCL Study “How CNY Moves”
Study co-chairs Heidi Holtz and Mary Kate Integlietta will share the findings of the 2015/16 study. How should CNY realign auto-centric practices for the 21^st century, the critical need for reliable, accessible and affordable transportation, and what other cities are doing.

Sept. 29: Heroin Epidemic in Central New York
A panel discussion on this topic includes New York State Police Major Frank Coots; Mark Raymond, manager of Crouse’s opioid treatment program at Crouse; Michele Caliva, RN CSPI, administrative director of Upstate New York Poison Center; and Erin Bortel, director of prevention services at ACR Health.
