Ray Schroeder, associate vice chancellor for online learning and professor emeritus of communication at the University of Illinois at Springfield, will be part of a panel at the second annual meeting of the University Partners for Online Education Strategies (UP Online) on Oct. 30 at University College.
Schroeder is also the founder and director of the national UPCEA Center for Online Leadership and is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in online education. He will share the University and Professional Continuing Education Association’s (UPCEA) Hallmarks of Excellence in Online Leadership.
The purpose of the meeting is to gather area colleagues working in online education to share ideas, address common problems, build a network, and support professional development.
Terry Watson, the disability specialist for Penn State World Campus, will discuss accessibility concerns in online education and provide resources for attendees to use as they move forward with accessible course offerings. Dan Feinberg, the senior instructional designer for Open SUNY, will share an open source tool for the Systematic Review and Refresh for Online Learning to be implemented and modified at participants’ respective institutions. Feinberg serves as project manager and lead instructional designer for many of the Center for Online Teaching Excellence’s faculty support initiatives. He has worked with faculty and administrators from over 40 SUNY schools to help implement quality online course design and development.
