A new publication documenting Point of Contact’s history through the lens of its permanent art collection will be released at the annual Point of Contact Patron Gala on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. This year’s event is a celebration of Point of Contact’s 40th Anniversary with a reception at the Point of Contact Gallery, located in the ground floor of the Nancy Cantor Warehouse in Downtown Syracuse.

The "Continuum" exhibition showcases Point of Contact's history through its collection of art.

The “Continuum” exhibition showcases Point of Contact’s history through its collection of art.

Guests at the event will have exclusive viewing of “Continuum,” an exhibition that tells the story of Point of Contact’s journey over the last 40 years through works of art from the permanent art collection. Many of the pieces included in the exhibition have been commissioned by Point of Contact, created specifically for its publications and exhibitions through the years. They provide a narrative of the evolution of the organization and of contemporary art trends, featuring works by Judy Pfaff, Nam June Paik, Liliana Porter, William Wegman and Gregory Crewdson, among others. The collection tends to blur visual and verbal, as well as geographic and cross-cultural boundaries, advancing an essential discussion about contemporary art.

The evening will include a special recognition of the patrons who have supported Point of Contact through its 40th Anniversary Campaign, live music, champagne and wine served with Caribbean delicacies and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a special holiday sale of the new Point of Contact art book, and other unique pieces from an array of limited edition archival prints.

All proceeds from the Patron Gala will sponsor Point of Contact’s arts and literary programs, the preservation of the art collection.

Tickets are $50 each or $10 for students, and can be purchased securely online at http://puntopoint.org/events/ or at the door the night of the event. Free parking is available in the University lot on the corner of West and West Fayette streets.
