Women of Distinction Event Planned for Oct. 15

The Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. is hosting its fifth annual Women of Distinction: Women who Empower, Educate, and Lead event on Oct. 15 in Goldstein Auditorium at the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. Among the panelists this year are actress and producer Vivica A. Fox, author of erotica Zane and All-American and WNBA star Skylar Diggins.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Schine Box Office for $3.

The “Women of Distinction” event includes an empowerment session, geared toward inspiring women and men of color in the Syracuse community.

Known for their commitment to community volunteering, campus forums and popular benefit concerts, the brothers of the Theta Xi Chapter have added this event to their fall calendar. “We wanted to appeal to all interests. Seeing women who are powerhouses in completely different fields can inspire others to do the same, female and male.” says Theta Xi Chapter vice president Alseny Frederick.

The event will also award two members in the area of bigger and better business, social action and education in alignment with the fraternity’s national programs. Recipients will be from the Syracuse student body and the surrounding area, recognizing women who have done exceptional work in those areas to impact the Syracuse community.
