914Works will host a closing reception for “Knowing Things,” a group exhibition by four artists, including three graduate students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6-8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. 914Works is located at 914 E. Genesee St., Syracuse.
“Knowing Things” features art by Stephanie Holmes, assistant director of Talent Agency; Brent Erickson, a graduate printmaking student in VPA’s School of Art; Matthew Pritchard, a graduate ceramics student in the School of Art; and Jacob Riddle, a graduate art photography student in VPA’s Department of Transmedia. The artworks selected are inspired by the artists’ speculation around the materiality and physicality of relationships between subject and object. On the one hand there are more intangible, phenomenological aspects, and on the other, intriguing questions are raised about the potential and limits of the perception of objects and the larger world.
The exhibition was organized by Holmes and 914Works’ gallery director Scott Rose.
