Department of Public Safety

The Syracuse University Department of Public Safety, in conjunction with the Syracuse Police Department, Onondaga County Emergency Management, Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse University Ambulance, Rural Metro and Fire and Life Safety Services, will conduct a training exercise in the vicinity of the College Place bus stop on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the drill, uniformed officers wearing tactical gear may be visible near the bus stop and on College Place and loud noises are possible.

The drill also serves as a training exercise for student-journalists from the Newhouse School, who will serve in the role of media covering the event.

The drill will require the temporary closure of College Place between University Place and the entrance to the Q-4 Lot. The Q-4 parking lot will remain accessible to and from Forestry Drive/Sims Drive and College Place.

The following shuttle routes will be affected by this closure:

Connective Corridor:  Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Connective Corridor will not operate via College Place or Sims Drive and will use the following detour—Comstock Avenue main shuttle stop to left on Euclid Avenue, left on Ostrom Avenue, left on Waverly Avenue, left on Irving Avenue, right on East Raynor Avenue and regular route to the Warehouse

Quad Shuttle: The Quad shuttle will not operate to the College Place shuttle stop between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

For questions about the drill, contact DPS at 443-5479.
