Mike Stanton of the Preservation Association of Central New York (PACNY) will receive the Levi L. Smith Civic Education Award at the Onondaga Citizens League’s (OCL) annual luncheon meeting at Drumlins on Wednesday, June 10.

The Levi Smith Award honors an outstanding citizen who has contributed to the practice of civic education and demonstrated commitment to citizen education and involvement in public affairs.
Syracuse 20/20 will be awarded the inaugural OCL Study Champion Award because of its long involvement with OCL, both as an organization and through individual members. Syracuse 20/20 advocated for the creation of the Commission on Local Government Modernization following OCL’s 2005 Strategic Government Consolidation study. More recently, through its Education Task Force, 20/20 followed up on OCL’s Early Childhood Study, resulting in formation of the Early Childhood Alliance to coordinate resources to ensure that all children enter school ready to learn.
