Newhouse Students, Recent Graduates Honored by STAA

Eric Gallanty ’15, a recent graduate of the Newhouse School, is the recipient of the 2015 Jim Nantz Award, which recognizes outstanding collegiate sports broadcasters. The award is given by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA).

This marks the third time in four years that a Syracuse student has received the honor; Kevin Fitzgerald ’14 won in 2014 and Bill Spaulding ’13 in 2012.

In addition, David Fine ’15 earned All-America honors for the second year in a row for being among the top six collegiate sports broadcasters on STAA’s annual list. Three others from Newhouse—Brenden Glasheen ’15, Jay Alter ’16 and Evan Weston ’15—were among the top 20.

Honorable mention went to David Lauterbach ’16; Varun Raghupathi ’16; Evan Stockton ’18; and Johnny Wincott ’16.
