The Syracuse University Department of Public Safety is busy during finals week each semester, but maybe not in the way you’d think. For the past three years, DPS officers have held a tabling event in Bird Library called “Relieve Some Stress with DPS.” They set up on the first floor with food and positive energy, encouraging students to take a short study break, interact with officers and grab a free healthy snack. Officers also hand out surveys for feedback on campus police services.
During the fall 2014 finals week alone, Officer George Wazen and his colleagues were able to collect upward of 700 surveys with valuable suggestions. They also served up several bushels of fresh fruit, boxes of granola bars and other goodies—along with some positive encouragement for the final academic push of the semester.
Students can stop by the Relieve Some Stress with DPS table from 9-11 p.m. on Thursday, April 30-Saturday, May 2.
