University College has announced that New York State has approved two fully online, part-time bachelor’s degrees and certificates in the Bachelor of Professional Studies Program (BPS).

The Creative Leadership program is geared toward individuals who are interested in professional networking, conflict resolution and workforce management. The Knowledge Management program is well suited for those who are drawn to information as a resource, data management and assessment, and social media.

The 15-credit certificate programs are an ideal way to earn valuable credentials in a shorter period of time. Credits earned can be transferred into the degree program.

“The business of continuing education is a fluid one,” says Dean Bea González. “Our students need and want flexibility and convenience while earning a degree, and our new online program will give them that. We are consistently reinventing and realigning ourselves in order to serve the changing demographics of continuing education.”

González says that the BPS program was redeveloped in response to employer needs. “Employers are looking for well-rounded graduates who have a broad foundation in a variety of workforce skills,” says González. Employers who were interviewed said that there are significant workforce deficiencies in those without bachelor’s degrees, including project management, analytic/data administration and human capital development.

“The good mix of skills offered in SU’s BPS program is very appealing,” says Jacob Corlyon of Bankers Healthcare Group Inc. “The areas of concentration are relevant to my organization’s workforce needs. Syracuse University is always a good source of candidates for positions within my organization. The diversity of the education encompassed in the BPS is its biggest benefit.”
