Residence Hall Association Aims to Enhance Living Experience
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) wants to make small changes in the residence halls that will make living there a more pleasant experience for students. They have launched a new project to achieve this called Enhance My Living Experience.
“It provides students with an opportunity to request items that they believe would make their living experience, as well as that of the other residents, better here on the Hill,” says Stephen Milewski, RHA’s director of public relations. Milewski says RHA has already gotten some requests, and is working to fulfill them.
Examples of the sorts of enhancements that residents might request include, but aren’t limited to, speakers, DVD/Blu-Ray players/discs, arts and crafts supplies, board games, sports equipment, cooking and cleaning supplies and other electronics. Enhancements are meant for the common areas of the residence halls, not for students’ individual rooms.
“We want to provide things that would benefit the entire residence hall,” Milewski says.
The idea for Enhance My Living Experience came from Malik Evans, president of RHA, who had encountered a similar program at the University of North Carolina. RHA just tweaked it to fit the Syracuse University campus.
The enhancements will, for the most part, be paid for by RHA. If a major alteration is requested, RHA will contact FIXit, the University maintenance department, to see what the possibilities are.
