Light Work Lab will exhibit “adjunct appendix: an ad-hoc exhibition of work from Adjunct Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts,” curated by John Wesley Mannion and Jessica Posner on occasion of the “Conceal Reveal: New Work from the Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts” exhibition at SUART Galleries. This ad hoc exhibition featuring two dimensional, video and digitally based art works will take place throughout Light Work Lab in various forms from Nov. 13-20. Light Work Lab is located at 316 Waverly Ave.

An unofficial reception and screenings will coincide with Light Work’s “Raymond Meeks: Where Objects Fall Away” reception on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5-7 p.m. The official reception and screenings will take place on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-8 p.m. This event will be a potlatch. If able, please bring items to share. Both receptions are free and open to the public.

The curators say, “What is an adjunct? What is an appendix? Is an adjunct an appendix? Is an appendix adjunct? An evolutionary organ? A peripheral body? An auxiliary workforce? We are artists and teachers doing valuable work with underwhelming support from the institutions we serve.

“This exhibition seeks to give voice, time and space to the adjunct faculty within the College of Visual Performing Arts. We are the new faculty majority in this country, and one third of the faculty at Syracuse University.”

Mannion and Posner are artists, adjunct faculty in Transmedia and staff at Light Work. For more info about Mannion, visit http://www.johnmannion.com. For more about Posner, visit http://jessicaposner.com. They are doing this because they think it is a good idea.

For the most current information, please check our facebook event. “adjunct appendix” is made possible by the generous support and enthusiasm of everyone at Light Work.
