A group of students is trying to bridge the gap between the Syracuse University campus and the energetic happenings downtown.

The Experience 'Cuse event will take students to restaurants in Armory Square.

The Experience ‘Cuse event will take students to restaurants in Armory Square.

This weekend, the student group has organized Experience ’Cuse, a series of events over this upcoming weekend to get students to discover the hidden treasures of downtown Syracuse.

  • On Friday, Nov. 7, there will be a food tour stopping at eight different restaurants in the Armory Square area. In between the restaurants, students will learn about the history and fun facts of Syracuse.
  • On Saturday, Nov. 8, student specials will be offered at the following restaurants: Empire Brewing Company, Gannon’s, Lemongrass, Kitty Hoynes, Black Olive, Lofo and Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar.
  • On Sunday, Nov. 9, Small Plates will be offering a three-course brunch for $15.

An SU I.D. must be presented at each event to receive any offers.

Although the event is focused on food, bringing students downtown will have a positive impact on the downtown community and its vibrancy as a whole, says Gina DiNapoli ’15, one of the student organizers.

Information about the weekend, details about the specials and the link to sign up for the food tour can be found on the Facebook Event Page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1508997062691885/) and on the Instagram @experiencecuse.
