We invite you to participate in a research project titled “Your Opinions of Alcohol” that is available through Syracuse University. This study was designed to better understand young adults’ opinions of alcohol.

To quality for the study, you must (1) be between the ages of 21 and 30, (2) speak English and (3) be of Caucasian descent.

If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to visit our lab to complete several paper-and-pencil questionnaires, taste several types of alcoholic beverages and view an alcohol-related film. The questionnaires will ask about your alcohol and substance use, your social environments, your opinions of the alcoholic beverages and alcohol-related film and your alcohol-related thoughts and behaviors. In addition, you will be asked to donate saliva for genotyping analysis. These tasks will take approximately 3.5 hours of your time.

All information that you provide us will remain confidential; that is, your personal identifying information will not be attached to your responses and genotypes. You will receive $5 per 30 minutes for your time and participation. If you complete only a portion of this project, you will get compensation equal to the amount of time devoted to this project, rounding up to the nearest half hour. For example, if you participate for about 1 hour, you will receive $10.

If you are interested in participating in this study or you have any questions about this study, please contact us by email at SUprojecthealth@gmail.com or 315-313-6027. Additional screening, though a brief phone screen, will be required to determine if you are eligible for our study. If you choose to participate in our study and sign up for a visit to our lab, we will send you a confirmation email of your scheduled visit along with detailed information about the location of our lab and contact information.
