Advance Notice: PeopleSoft Human Resources/Student Administration (HRSA) Maintenance and Downtime Information

Wednesday, August 13, 2014, By Christopher C. Finkle

This provides background information on the upcoming changes to PeopleSoft and alerts you to the dates and times that PeopleSoft and MySlice will be unavailable during the implementation. The goal is to make this implementation as seamless and non-disruptive as possible. This advance notice of system unavailability will allow you and your department to plan work accordingly.

Syracuse University uses Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions for Human Resources, Student Administration and Payroll functions, also known as PeopleSoft HRSA. This is the system that enables students, faculty and staff to access their critical University information resources, including academic information, course selection, class registration, class schedules and rosters, online grading, advising information, student records, payroll, benefits information and others.

Oracle has made changes to this system, which requires a split of Human Resources/Payroll and Student Administration functionalities into separate systems. The implementation of these changes will keep the University current with supported versions of the software and will ensure systems stay up to date with critical state and federal tax updates and regulations. There will be no new functionality as a result of this system maintenance. All existing customizations and user security permissions will be preserved. Menus and screens will look similar, or the same as they do today.

It is anticipated that system maintenance will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, and conclude on or before 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29. PeopleSoft Human Resources/Student Administration, including the following services accessed through MySlice, will be unavailable:

  • Employee Services
  • Personal Services
  • Holds
  • Course Catalog and Class Search services
  • Faculty Center
  • Global Survey
  • Orange Alert

At noon on Saturday, Sept. 27, the MySlice portal, including the following online services, will be unavailable for several hours:

  • All Self Service applications
  • Financial applications, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Grants, Budget, Asset Management and Endowments
  • Financial Aid
  • Student Loan Lenders
  • Student Athletic Management
  • Effort Reporting
  • Housing and Meal Plan Services
  • Parking services

Current information about the project will be posted online at https://answers.syr.edu/x/OgEeAg (SU NetID authentication required). A formal downtime notification will be published in advance of the planned maintenance.

If you have any questions or want more information, contact Linda Saul, project panager, at lsaul@syr.edu.
