Summer Snapshots 2025
From the looks of it, our University community members sure enjoyed themselves over the summer months. From a big adventure around the world to a laid-back staycation, take a look at the fun they had.
Syracuse University faculty and staff are invited to participate in an eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program beginning Wednesday, May 7. The first session will meet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Once the University goes to summer hours on May 12, the group will meet from 5-7 p.m. each Wednesday through June 25. All of the sessions take place in 500 Hall of Languages. There also will be a half-day retreat on Saturday, June 21, in the same room.
Participants in this popular program will learn a variety of mindfulness meditation practices and their applications to everyday life. The practices taught include the full body scan, gentle yoga/stretching exercises, and sitting and walking meditations. The potential benefits include relief from stress, improved concentration, greater self-awareness, enhanced relaxation and less reactivity, among others. Participants will receive weekly assignments to practice at home. The cost for SU employees is $40 for the full eight-week program. Space is limited, so those interested should email wellness@syr.edu to reserve a spot. The program is sponsored by the University Wellness Initiative/embody: Your well-being. Your way.
