A reunion of former Syracuse University basketball players, including members of the team when coach Jim Boeheim played, will be attending the Ultimate SU Tailgate. Dick Ableman ’66, Rich Cornwall ’68, Vaughn Harper ’68, George Hicker ’68, Chuck Richards ’65, and Rex Trobridge ’66, will be on hand for a pregame party taking place before the game against Duke on Feb. 1. Some of Boeheim’s former players are scheduled to be there too, including Roosevelt Bouie ’80, Eric Devendorf ’09, and Preston Shumpert ’02.
The Ultimate Tailgate Party is an event geared toward SU fans throughout Central New York and beyond, taking place in Goldstein Auditorium at the Schine Student Center. Attendees will have the chance to eat, drink, take home free T-shirts and other prizes, and get the chance to rub elbows with some of the players who make up the proud history of the SU basketball program. The event starts at 4 p.m. on game day. For people who don’t have tickets to the sold out game, big screen TVs will be set up at Schine to allow people to root for the Orange.
